Safe and Sound in China

June 14, 2008

Myself and the five companions I came here with have successfully arrived at our hotel in Suzhou, China safely.

Getting here was not without its hairy moments—the biggest of which involved the ever-problematic O’Hare airport in Chicago—but everything ended up as planned.  Business class rocks, for those of you who don’t know, and I’d sure like to fly it all the time.  Food on the flight from Tokyo to Shanghai was interesting (read: unexpected); let’s just suffice to say I had Sushi for the first time (not bad) but had to pass on many food items for fear of antagonizing my fish allergy.  Driving to the hotel from the airport was uneventful—actually somewhat of a letdown after hearing some of Karrie’s Uncle Nick’s stories about riding around China.  Traffic lights here have timers on them so you know exactly when they’re going to change—very cool.  Very tired, so going to bed soon.  More later…
