I have successfully built the electronic circuit that will drive the lighting systems on the still-as-yet-unnamed R/C plane.

Plane Construction Enters Phase II
July 28, 2005
By using one 556 and two 555 ICs I was able to create two separate blinking effects in addition to the steady lights. One blinking effect is a simple slow on-off-on-off for the blinking red light that will go on the tail. The other is for the wingtip flashers. Each one strobes three times quickly in succession, the goes dark while the other one strobes. It makes for a pretty realistic and neat effect. I have also installed all of the steady lights in the right wing. Installing the blinking lights that are driven by the new circuit will come next. The second part of my construction series videos is now complete. You can download it here [Editor’s note: video currently offline].
