Nursery Upgrades

Nursery 1 Nursery Lights Stroller

While I'm not out of my old office just yet, we have made some strides in converting it to a nursery.

I took the time to remove all of my stuff save my desk and everything on or in it.  That left nearly three walls and a closet wide-open for nursery duty.  I installed two additional shelves in the closet, greatly increasing its storage capacity (wish I’d done that when I was still using it!).  We now have the changing table, crib (unassembled—it doesn’t fit through the door assembled and I want everything out of the room when we paint), dollhouse bookshelf, and end table in the room (along with tons of clothes, toys, and other baby-related paraphernalia on or in said items).  I also upgraded the lighting to a 200W track lighting setup with a fully programmable dimmer (I love hitting the switch and watching the lights fade in or out over several seconds).

Soon we should be able to paint the room.  My new office is scheduled for some surgery this Friday in which we will remove it’s existing basement window and replace it with a bigger, code-friendly egress window.  With that roadblock out of the way, progress on the office should be quite smooth.  Whether or not I’m moved out by then, we’ll be painting the Nursery over Memorial Day weekend.  Then the crib can go together and we can take comfort in being reasonably prepared for the arrival of our baby.  We even have our stroller/car seat combo, thanks to a sale last week.
