Some Apple Updates
I just got done watching the keynote for Apple's holiday season update, and I saw some things worth mentioning.Aside from the launch of a new iPod Nano (which looks pretty cool) and upgraded iPod Touch, Apple rolled out a new iTunes (Version 8) and a new software release for iPhone and iPod Touch (2.1). iPhone’s update won’t be out until Friday, but it aims to fix many of the issues people have been having with the phone. Among some of the things Mr. Jobs mentioned were increased battery life, fewer dropped calls, fewer crashes associated with third-party apps, quicker backups, and more.
Steve also announced some new games for the touch devices. After the keynote, I went onto the app store and checked out the latest ones. I’m happy to report the arrival of a long-awaited game. Well, it’s not so much the game, but more what the game does; Asphalt 4: Elite Racing promises “exclusive” Wi-Fi multiplayer, something that has been lacking in iPhone/iPod Touch games until now. Priced at the upper end of the “reasonable” range at $10, it currently has a user rating of 4 stars (out of 5); hopefully it lives up to its promise (I won’t buy it until I find some friends who will slap down the dough with me).
