"Weeks before, Karrie had picked the colors (she’s good with stuff like that) and we had decided on a paint scheme after trying a few out virtually in Photoshop Lightroom."

I'm not saying this isn't clever or even a good idea. But I'm saying you're a nerd.

I was originally offended by this comment, but after looking up the definition on urbandictionary.com I realized this -- if true -- puts me above my current view of myself: a geek. Compliment or not, I still think you are wrong; despite all appearances, my IQ does not exceed my weight, at least not according to that online IQ test I took on the Internet back in the .com days...

Nursery Completion

It's hard to believe that what was my office only three days ago is now a full-blown nursery.

Mind you, we’d been preparing the space for some time.  Several weeks ago everything but my corner desk came out to make room for baby stuff.  With Karrie’s long weekend available, we dismantled my desk, relocated my computer to the guest room, and got cracking on the nursery.

First up was a fresh coat of paint.  Weeks before, Karrie had picked the colors (she’s good with stuff like that) and we had decided on a paint scheme after trying a few out virtually in Photoshop Lightroom.  After using all of the painter’s tape I had on hand (I masked out the last few inches of baseboard behind the door with Scotch tape—shhh!!) we went to town.  Karrie and I took turns rolling and edging until the whole room was painted.  That night we applied the second coat of both colors.

The next day I worked on the basement in the morning (more on that later) and we went out to Home Depot in the afternoon to get some chair rail and outdoor supplies.  We spent a good part of the day outside getting some chores done due to the nice weather.  That evening I installed the chair rail, then caulked and painted it.

After some cleanup this morning, we finally moved everything in.  We started by assembling the crib (we hadn’t assembled it before due to its larger-than-doorway-opening size), then brought everything else in behind it.  Karrie painted a couple of dragonflies on canvas and I mounted those and a several other decorations on the walls and ceiling.  After Karrie installed the bedding in the crib and populated all of the storage spaces with appropriate baby paraphernalia the nursery was done!

You can check out some pictures of the results; I’ve made a new catalog on the site for pictures of our home (as with everything else around this site, more to come later) and put five pictures in it so far.  Enjoy…
