Is it actually a "prelude" when it comes more than 2/3 of the way through the month?

I suppose not... I think my intention was that the post would cover the first part of November. That's what I get for writing posts late at night when short on sleep.

November Prelude

I've got even more pictures of the little one, a small progress report, and a link to the latest podcast I was a part of.

Leah’s four-month appointment began the month and I am pleased to report that she continues to progress nicely.  She now has full command of her neck muscles and is able to be sat up while holding her head straight.  I was astonished to hear that she is in the 100th percentile in length (height).  While many consider me to be tall (despite my average six-foot-even stature), I’m not THAT tall!  Time will tell if she maintains her tall standing.  During the appointment we also had to endure another round of shots.  Leah was once again thoroughly upset during the procedure but perfectly happy once I picked her up.  This time she quieted down so fast I think she shocked the nurses.  She ended up working the band-aids off herself within a few hours of the shots; quite honestly, the after effects didn’t seem to bother her much at all this time around.

For Halloween we dressed Leah up as a pumpkin (fitting, as that is one of our pet names for her).  No trick-or-treating per se, but we did go see some nearby family for a nice dinner before entertaining trick-or-treaters back at our house.  We missed the initial rush, so many of the children who we did see got a solid helping of candy.  Since Halloween Leah has been developing her ability to stand with assistance.  Man, she loves it!  As a result we now let her play in a Johnny Jump-Up and an exersaucer (pics of the latter to come later) for short periods of time.  The only other significant thing to report is that nap times are inching their way north of 30-minutes apiece on average, sometimes going for more than an hour!

In other news, our turtles were finally moved to their new home at the Children’s Museum of Maine last week.  As such, my time situation and electric bill should both improve slightly.  The turtles are on the second floor should anyone care to visit them.  Their old home (a jury-rigged pond-liner-in-a-box) will be decommissioned this week to make more room in my basement workshop, which should help matters when it comes to finishing my new office.  I now have one of the short walls drywalled in addition to the ceiling, and I have live electrical to the lighting so I may work at any hour I choose now.  I have a wealth of time off around the holidays, so hopefully I can make some significant progress in the basement soon.  I’m itching to move my equipment out of the guest room!

For those interested in Windows 7, we talk all about it in the latest edition of Tweak and Geek:
Tweak & Geek #34: Windows 7 is Here

That’s all for now.  I have some two-month old video of Leah and I playing piano that I hope to get on here soon, as well as a never-ending supply of new pictures to come.  In the meantime, the pictures to the left are just a sampling; the bottom three cover this weblog post, but the top three are just a few of the new Leah pics.  Be sure to step through the pictures or visit Leah’s album in order to see them all.
