Leah’s First Party
We were honored to bring Leah to the 20th wedding anniversary celebration of our good friends Mark and Rhonda yesterday. It was her first party, and we were happy she could share the experience with such good company.I met Mark over a decade ago when I worked for the convenience store he now owns. You may have heard of it; Food Stop is a well-known name to anyone who’s attended Greely High School or lived in Cumberland for any appreciable length of time. Mark was returning to Food Stop in a managerial role, and we soon hit it off. While Mark and my views are not exactly aligned, we appreciate each other’s opinions and enjoy discussing them ad infinitum. Add to that our shared love for movie scores, movies, games, and a whole host of other geeky/nerdy things and you have the makings of a great friendship. Mark’s wife Rhonda has a mind that I feel is similar to mine; combine that with her good sense of humor and excellent baked goods and she’s very easy to like as well. Put them together, though, and you’re in for a real good time. Mark and Rhonda have set good examples as spouses and parents; I find myself taking mental notes often when I am in their presence.
On top of all that, they have two excellent boys who also make for a good time. It was nice to see all four of them and many more of their friends and family yesterday. If you’re like me, you can’t get enough of Mark and his friends and family. If that’s the case, I invite you to check out Mark’s weblog on wines (bottles of which take up a significant amount of floor space in his store). Even if you’re only a casual wine drinker like myself, you’ll find his writing eloquent while at the same time casual and unassuming. I’ve added it to my links page, but here is the address now:

So, happy anniversary to Mark and Rhonda. It was truly an honor for all three of us to celebrate with you yesterday.
