Mike and Karrie, I just had to let you know that Leah is quite a hit at work. Both Jen and I put up some photos of her in our work areas and we lost count of the wonderful comments and oooh's-and-aaaahhs that were shared. I (Cindy) put up two pictures outside my med room so that everyone passing in the hall would see them. And if anyone had the nerve to be so inattentive as to walk by without noticing her photos , I stepped out and said, "HEY!! YOU!!" and told them to get right back here and gawk at my granddaughter. My coworkers were all very understanding of my role as doting grandma, and found my demands quite amusing. She was the talk of both our departments all day Tuesday! We can't wait to see you all again, hopefully this afternoon if you are not too tired. Love, Mom

Congratulations! I am so proud for both of you! This is great fun...Let's do it again! Ha ha!

Well, the only picture of Leah that looks (close) like me is: the one with her mouth wide open, singing Nessun Dorma. I can read lips! I am thrilled for your parents...they are chuffed to bits! Thank you for sharing Leah with us on your website...bravo! Who will the Godparents be? Sending all my love...cheers! Rest well! Elizabeth

Leah is definitely worth showing off, and we're definitely on the try it again side of the try it again / don't mess with a good thing argument. Leah won't be baptized at this point (we'll let her decide later), so no godparents for the moment. There won't be any shortage of supportive friends and family, though!

Day Two

Yesterday was Leah's second day in the world. Things continue to go well, and of course we have some more pictures for you.

Yesterday was fairly eventful.  Our neighbor (who happens to work here at the hospital) was nice enough to stop by the first night with our baby nail clippers (didn’t think we’d need them this early, but we do!).  I had a go with them yesterday, but opted only to clip the longest ones due to Leah’s exuberance.  I had to make a food run yesterday afternoon and took the opportunity to go home and pick up the boppy (C-shaped pillow, for those of you who are like I was before I had this baby) and an extra blanket (Leah spit up on one of the ones we had brought).  We had another round of visitors stop by; as with the first day, most become rather uninterested in the parents once they see the baby!  I jest, of course, but the fact remains that Leah is quite popular so far.

All three of us logged some more sleep last night, although Karrie and I are still coming up a bit short.  Karrie was especially exhausted by the end of yesterday evening, so I made sure to handle as many baby duties through the night as I am capable of.  After all, Karrie has a job to do (heal and nurse), whereas my only obligation is to put my hand up when anyone asks who the dad is.  I hope it paid off; Karrie got some decent shut eye last night and this morning.  As for me, I think I got enough to make it through the day.  If not, that’s what naps are for!
